The Golden Rule
We follow the Golden Rule in our classroom; treat others as you would like to be treated!
The best way to contact us is through your child's folder. Folders are checked every day for notes, returned forms and homework. Please do your part by checking these nightly. You may also contact by email or by phone at 248.589.0406. Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us as we value open communication.
Should there be any changes to your child's usual transportation routine please send a note in your child's folder or call the office. They will notify us of the change.
Kindergarten homework involves reading every night for 15 minutes. This includes listening to someone read to him/her, "reading" a story to another (this involves the retelling of a story in his/her own words while refering to the book in hand), enjoying a book independently and/or reading aloud to someone.
Other assignments that reinforce concepts taught in class will come home in your child's folder. Please assist your child in completing the homework and send it back by the due date specified.
Birthdays are special! If you would like to provide a treat in honor of your child's birthday, please keep it simple for us to serve to the children. You may either bring it to the classroom in the morning or drop it off in the office. It is helpful if you contact me at least the day before to let me know you will be sending in a special snack. Healthful snacks are always appreciated and enjoyed by our children.
If your child has a summer birthday you can either chose an alternate date or go with your child's half birthday instead to eliminate the rush to get all the summer birthdays in at the end of the school year.
Please keep in mind that no birthday party invitations are to be distributed at school unless ALL students are included. We cannot have any hurt feelings about being excluded and do not wish to deal with these issues in the classroom. Thank you for understanding!
We have many opportunities for volunteers to help in our classroom. Please contact us if you are interested in helping!
