September 2018

Greetings, and welcome to the Hiller Elementary website!

Brad SassackMy name is Brad Sassack, and I am proud to be the new principal of Hiller Elementary.  I am a firm believer in working with our staff to create a positive, ambitious school culture that is student-centered.  Additionally, I hold a high regard for forming strong relationships with students and their families.  These relationships lay the foundation for the deep learning that takes place within our classrooms.  At Hiller, the mantra of, “every child…every day” is truly valued.

Hiller Elementary prides itself on being a welcoming, nurturing school.  The staff aims to partner with our families and community to ensure students’ success through meaningful communication, engaging activities, and a friendly environment.  We also value the diversity our school has to offer and believe in the benefit of learning about the many cultures represented by our students.

We are very proud to be a Leader in Me school.  The Leader in Me program is designed to empower students and unleash the potential that lies within each individual.  Through the teaching of the 7 Habits (Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win/Win, Seek First to Understand…Then to be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw), we believe that we can provide students with the essential mindset and skills they need for academic and social success.

Recently, the school has been given the rare distinction of becoming a Lighthouse School.  This honor is only given to schools that have implemented the Leader in Me process with fidelity and excellence, which has resulted in positive outcomes for the students, staff, and community.  We look forward to continuing this process, while growing and setting high expectations for all students that walk our school’s halls.

As you browse our website, you will find key information and news pertaining to our school community.  Monthly updates will provide insight into all of the highlights Hiller Elementary has to offer.  If you cannot find the information that you need, please contact us at 248-589-0406.

Here’s to a great school year!
